Workcraft #56 - What does it mean to be organized?
A Simple 5-minute Routine to Get Organized, and other Notion News
Organization is a new kind of struggle in the information age, and has only gotten more furious with the explosion of AI and automation.
It's no longer just about a tidy desk; it's about treating our computers as digital brains, and managing our time, energy and attention with precision.
Today, we're diving into what it truly means to be organized and how it can transform your work and personal life.
What Does It Mean to Be Organized?
Being organized is about having a structured approach to managing your:
⏱️ Time: planning and allocating your time effectively to balance work, personal life, and leisure, ensuring that important tasks are not neglected.
☑️ Tasks: identifying what matters most and focusing your efforts accordingly, helping you manage your workload efficiently.
🏢 Environment: keeping your home, workspace, and environment tidy and functional, creating a conducive atmosphere for productivity and relaxation.
💻 Digital Space: managing files, emails, apps, and online tools to minimize clutter and enhance efficiency, reducing the mental load that disorganization can create.
When we're organized, we reduce overwhelm, save time, boost productivity, have a clear sense of priorities, experience less stress and anxiety, find things more easily, and make progress towards our goals. Everything has its place and purpose, making it easier to focus and make progress, leading to a sense of control and accomplishment.
We dive deeper on this topic on our blog, but if you’re struggling to build a strong routine around organization, keep reading 😉.
A 5-Minute Morning Routine for Better Organization
To help you kickstart your journey towards better organization, here's an easy, manageable routine that helped me reset at the start of this year.
This simple practice can set a positive tone for your entire day, helping you feel more in control and focused right from the start. Here's the breakdown:
⚠️ Review Your Top Three Priorities for the Day (2 minutes):
Identify what matters most and focus your energy there.
🤔 Take a Moment for Reflection or Intention-Setting (1 minute):
Set a positive mindset to guide your actions.
🧘 Do a Quick Physical Activity Like Stretching (2 minutes):
Energize your body to boost mental clarity.
This routine helps kickstart a day of focus, without getting too complicated. Once you’ve built up a routine, you can always expand it. But keep it simple!
Every step you take towards better organization is a win, no matter how small it may seem.

📰 Notion Updates
Recurring Automations
Notion just added a feature that triggers automations on a schedule. Previously, you could only create new pages on a schedule. Now, you can do sooo much more, including editing pages and properties and sending emails, slacks, and webhooks. Very welcome update!
⚙️ Tools
Notion Timer
This is definitely my favorite Notion widget of 2025 so far.
This minimalist, straightforward timer fits in beautifully in any Notion workspace. Dark mode? Light mode? They’ve got both. Toss one into your workspace to sprint past deadlines, nerd out on study sessions, or finally tackle that to-do list without jumping between apps.
