Time Block like an Olympian
Welcome to Issue #49 of the Dave's WorkCraft Newsletter where I share 1 Big Idea & 3 Little Updates to help you work with more focus and intention.
It’s been Olympics fever in the Notion Coach household.
I love seeing athletes from all over the world come together and compete (even for sports I’ve never played or know much about).
This got me thinking: just as athletes meticulously plan their training to maximize performance for years in advance, what does Olympian-level training look like for knowledge workers?
It starts with one meta-skill: time blocking.
Time blocking builds discipline and intention into your daily routine, helping you reach higher levels of focus and productivity. Since most of us don’t have trainers building a specialized regimen just for us, planning what to work on and executing with precision is the only clear path to sustained peak performance.
Olympians also don’t wake up and decide how they’ll train that day. They follow a strict plan, ensuring every minute is used to push their limits and hone their skills.
They also don’t train every waking moment. Meals, rest and recovery are just as important as training.
Time blocking works the same way for the workday. It forces you to be intentional about how you spend your time, just like athletes crafting their training schedule to peak at the right moment.
It’s also important to remember that no olympians started their journey as top athletes. Every one starts from zero.
So if you want to start training like an Olympian, time block each day, execute to the best of your ability, and repeat. If you’re interested in a time-blocking deep dive, check out my latest blog post.

💻 Turn Pages into Stunning Websites with Notion Sites
Exciting news! Notion just unveiled a game-changing feature that lets you turn Notion pages into complete websites. Yes, this was possible before, but you get a lot more customization with the latest update, and it’s clear Notion is investing in this space, considering the volume of creators turning Notion pages into fully-fledged websites.
I made a short walkthrough video on some of the new features, from customizing domains to optimizing settings for SEO.
Whether you’re a Notion pro or just starting, this feature streamlines the process of getting your site up and running with just a few clicks. Watch the video

💬 You can add comments to properties!
You can now add comments directly to database properties in Notion. This update makes it easier to provide context and collaborate with your team on specific property values.
What do you think? I haven’t come across the need for this, but I’m eager to explore it a bit more.
COMING SOON
📈 Notion Charts are Almost Here!
Notion teased screenshots of their new Charts feature, and I’m calling it now: this will be the biggest update of the year.
From the looks of it, you’ll be able to create a chart view for virtually any database, and customize things like chart type (line chart, bar chart, etc), and color palettes.
I know the feature has been in testing mode for a few months now, so it’s sure to be a powerful update, and makes a strong case for managing more intensive data in Notion, without the need for third-party data viz tools.
Note: it looks like at least the Plus plan will be required to get the full functionality, fyi!
🙌🏼 That’s it for this week!
