Welcome to Issue #38 of Notion Creators Weekly, where I share 1 Big Idea & 3 Updates to help you work with more focus and intention.
💡 This is AI’s Moment
Notion’s latest update (more on that later) signals a huge step forward for AI. I’ve been heavily using ChatGPT for a few months (and still prefer it vs. Notion AI or alternatives for the majority of use cases), but there’s a big difference using a dedicated AI tool and having an embedded feature that can immediately give you insights on your data, instantly.
This is also going to bring big shifts in team workflows.
Now, having a clear strategy for organizing information is not only more important than ever, but critical for AI tools to read and interpret effectively.
For example, I used to have one Content Notion database for everything from blog posts to YouTube scripts to social posts. But by segmenting content into different groups (long form, posts, blocks), it’s both easier for Notion Q&A to access the right content, and for me to revisit content faster.
In This Week in Startups, Jason Calacanis often mentions how the expectation at LAUNCH (they’re also a client, shameless plug 😉) is that every employee leverage AI tools as early in their tasks as possible. This means less time brainstorming, or executing tasks that can easily done by tools like ChatGPT or Google Bard.
The more teams depend on Notion Q&A for getting the right answers fast, we’ll see more prioritization on workspace organization, and it will be mandatory for teams and employees to adopt shared norms around docs, projects, tasks and workflows.
NOTION UPDATES
🔎 Notion Q&A | Biggest Update of the Year?
Notion's new Q&A feature may seem like an incremental step in their push for AI, but it’s a big turning point for AI’s impact on productivity tools.
Q&A offers users an innovative way to access and utilize their stored information more efficiently. By allowing users to pose questions directly to Notion, much like interacting with a colleague or friend, this feature taps into the vast repository of individual workspace data - from project roadmaps to personal notes.
This advancement in AI utilization demonstrates the potential of AI to augment human capabilities, particularly in reducing 'work-about-work' and allowing users to focus on more critical, high-leverage tasks.
It’s still in beta, but it’s already impressive.

BOOKS TO READ
📚 Your Best Year Ever, by Michael Hyatt
I’ve been eagerly awaiting Michael Hyatt’s latest book: Your Best Year Ever, and it’s finally out!
One of Hyatt’s earlier books – Free to Focus – was a transformative read for me, especially around the time of getting started with Notion consulting.
It really drives the concept of doing less to achieve more. From what I’ve read of Your Best Year Ever, there’s already lots of actionable steps to not only create big goals, but strategize on how to exceed them, and how we often end up getting in our own way.
NEW COURSE ALERT!
🏗️ Workspace Builders Bootcamp | January 2024
I’m super excited to announce our first course of 2024 – Workspace Builders Bootcamp!
I’ve connected with many Notion creators who are already working with clients, but don’t want to go 100% in on consulting. There’s also many employees that have become the de facto Notion expert at their company, and need help applying best practices in their workspace.
This course spun out of Notion Consultant Bootcamp – an amazing experience for me (and hopefully for the group) where we covered how to build a high-performance Notion consulting business.
In Workspace Builders, we’re focusing 100% on best practices when it comes to creating workspaces that are not just efficient, but also intuitive, delightful, and super collaborative.
Whether you're an up-and-coming consultant, part of a buzzing startup, or the go-to Notion person at a larger company, this three week course is built from the ground up, just for you. Jump on the waitlist now to secure your spot!
🙌🏼 That’s it for this week!
